WE the undersigned, urge our Governor
and Legislators to constructively address the issue of direct
care staff recruitment and retention.
SO THAT our state's most vulnerable citizens
with mental health and mental retardation disabilities, and
needing community supports and care will receive reliable,
high quality services.
WE ASCRIBE to the following principles and
urge that these principles guide legislative, regulatory and
fiscal decisions as program resources are allocated for future
fiscal years.
NATIONAL ADVOCACY Campaign Principles
WE FIRMLY BELIEVE that assuring high quality
community-based services requires the involvement and commitment
of all stakeholders: consumers, clients, families, providers,
advocates, government entities and communities.
WE FIRMLY BELIEVE that high quality community-based
services can only be assured if consumers, families, providers
and counties can recruit and retain qualified staff.
WE FIRMLY BELIEVE that the recruitment and
retention of qualified staff is jeopardized without adequate
state and federal funding, applied to local solutions.
THEREFORE, we, the members of the ANCOR
National Advocacy Campaign, commit our energy and resources
to working collaboratively toward solutions which will ensure
a living wage to assist in the recruitment and retention of
quality, professional staff.
